
THE ELINOR OSTROM AWARD ON COLLECTIVE GOVERNANCE OF THE COMMONS
Created to honour and develop the legacy of Elinor Ostrom, it aims to acknowledge and promote the work of practitioners, young and senior scholars involved in the field of the commons. According with Ostrom´ s large legacy the Award will go to academic and applied works on traditional commons, local commons, interlinked commons, global commons, knowledge, cultural and virtual commons.
Goals
To acknowledge Ostrom’s legacy for scholarship and policy-making while making it accessible to wider and more varied audiences, within and outside of the academia.
To promote Ostrom’s pedagogical and mentoring approach to the training of graduate students as young colleagues.
To promote academic research on the commons, collective action, and related institutions, as well as its application to the understanding of the governance of different types of commons.
To acknowledge and give visibility to applied policy and civic experiences of governance, management, protection, and/or creation of different types of commons at different scales and in different regions of the world, particularly those related to the great contemporary socio-environmental challenges.
To multiply the impacts of Ostrom’s proposals on scholarship and policy-making, making her legacy a living one.
